Dr. Kathryn H. Deeley is a historical archaeologist whose research focuses on the study of African American communities in the 19th and early 20th centuries on the East Coast of the United States. She is originally from just outside of Washington, D.C., and has worked on archaeology projects in Georgia, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Puerto Rico and Portugal. She is currently working on a project on a 19th-century farm in Monroe, GA. Her research interests include historical archaeology, African-American archaeology, material culture studies, historic preservation, community outreach and public archaeology. In addition to teaching at �Թ�tv, Deeley has also taught anthropology courses at the University of Maryland and at Catholic University.
