Dr. Julia E. Barker Paredes
Professor of Chemistry
Biography
Dr. Paredes received a B.A. in both chemistry and biology from Bellarmine University. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Miami. She is a passionate educator and loves to engage with her students in and out of the classroom. She designs each of her classes in a manner whereby students learn how to learn, regardless of the subject matter. Her laboratory research interests include oxygenation catalysis, catalytic mechanisms, organic/inorganic synthesis. In addition, she engages in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, with particular emphasis in educational technology.
While at ³Ô¹Ïtv, she deeply engages in service and was awarded ³Ô¹Ïtv's Faculty Service Award for 2016. This award was partially due to her involvement with curriculum development. She has served as both the Collegewide and General Education Curriculum chairs.
