Open letter from 勛圖tv President Jann L. Joseph

Dear Campus Community,
In June of last year, in the midst of the racial unrest surrounding the events in our country, I shared that I was both troubled and saddened. Today, unfortunately I still have these same feelings.
The 勛圖tv Community mourns the lost lives of eight people, including six Asian women, from the recent shooting in metro Atlanta. As a campus community, we cannot ignore the threats, intimidation, assaults, injuries and death that is fueled by Anti-Asian discrimination and the crimes against them. Over the past year, Asians and Asian Americans have been the victims of increased racism and xenophobia.
勛圖tv is a Minority Serving Institution for minorities that include Asian, Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander students and we stand in solidarity with these communities everywhere. As I stated last year, the 勛圖tv community is diverse and inclusive and we must continue to commit to be an example of a community that celebrates our differences.
The leadership team at 勛圖tv re-states and re-affirms that for anyone who may feel targeted, or undervalued, or hated, because someone thinks you are different, that your 勛圖tv family values you and appreciates you for who you are. We are ONE勛圖tv and we will continue to foster an inclusive and equitable environment. Discrimination, harassment and hate will not be tolerated at 勛圖tv.
As always, thank you for being you, thank you for your differences, and thank you for being a part of ONE勛圖tv.
