Once again, enrollment at �Թ�tv (�Թ�tv) continues its annual upward trajectory. For the fall semester, the number of students is projected to climb 2.1% overall, which means �Թ�tv will likely enroll well over 12,000 students. This marks seven consecutive semesters that enrollment has grown.

While nearly 75 percent of the students at �Թ�tv hail from Gwinnett County, there are plenty of coming from other states in the U.S., plus 116 countries. The top five countries outside of the U.S. that students are from are Vietnam, Nigeria, Venezuela, Mexico and India.

�Թ�tv (�Թ�tv) contributed more than $603 million to the economy of Gwinnett County and the Atlanta metropolitan area during fiscal year 2023, according to an released by the University System of Georgia (USG).

That’s $81.9 million dollars, or about 16% more than the previous year.

Including its capital outlay for construction projects such as its new Convocation Center that will open later this year, �Թ�tv has generated more than $6.4 billion in cumulative economic impact since 2007, the first year the college has been included in the study.

It’s the first day of fall classes at �Թ�tv (�Թ�tv) as thousands of students make their way across campus.

“I’m thrilled to see our campus vibrant with the return of our faculty, staff and students,” said �Թ�tv President Jann L. Joseph.

Along with finding their classes, students are exploring the campus, discovering where to purchase books, grab a snack and catch up with their friends.

For first-year students Camila Pineda and Jocelyn Tobar, the day started and ended before noon.

With the fall semester starting next week, over 1,000 students are moving into the residence halls on the campus of �Թ�tv (�Թ�tv) today and tomorrow.

"It’s an exciting day for the students, their families and all of us here at �Թ�tv,” said Ricky Clark, director of Student Housing. “We’ve got a system in place and great volunteers to help make the move as smooth as possible.”

At �Թ�tv (�Թ�tv), work is well under way to welcome new and returning students for the start of the college’s new academic year on Monday, Aug. 12.

“Summer is the best time for us to make improvements on campus because it causes the least disruption,” said Terrance Schneider, associate vice president of Facilities and chief of police at �Թ�tv. “We have been busy.”

When students move into campus housing Aug. 8 and 9, they will find new outdoor furnishings and enhanced landscaping. An expanded vestibule area is being constructed at the front entrance of the largest residence hall

During the dog days of summer, the temperatures soar, and so do electric bills. At �Թ�tv (�Թ�tv), the buildings remain comfortably cool thanks to a project that started 10 years ago.

�Թ�tv’s initial campus buildings were constructed with each using individual air conditioning units located adjacent to the buildings. In early 2015, �Թ�tv completed a study to coordinate the campus utility systems with the planned architectural growth. The study focused on developing reliable, energy efficient and sustainable systems for cooling the entire campus.

A group of nine �Թ�tv (�Թ�tv) students, a professor and a staff member from �Թ�tv’s School of Business (SBA) recently flew over nine hours and several time zones to reach Germany. Their mission: spend 12 days immersed in German cultural, business and leadership activities.

Summertime is synonymous with vacation time. Many Americans, however, struggle to take vacation.

�Թ�tv’s (�Թ�tv) Dr. David Ludden, a psychology professor and the Psychology Department chair, said that vacations have become work vacations.

“It’s easy to think, ‘They need me’ because it gives you a sense of importance, and that makes it hard not to be checking and responding to work email while on vacation,” he said. “There is even an expectation that you should answer work emails and calls. Due to demand, the �Թ�tv (�Թ�tv) Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Center will remain open through August 1.

“When we first opened the center at the end of April to help students start or complete their FAFSA application, it was to help students navigate the process,” said Kimberly Jordan, �Թ�tv ‘s executive director of Financial Aid Services.

“The response has steadily increased with more students stopping by for assistance and to ask questions.”
